Where to start?
1) We are pros! Our product wouldn't have lasted for 98 years if it wasn't the best conditioner on the market. Don't believe us? Check out our reviews!
2) We are the categorial experts - Making leather conditioner is all we do. We aren't distracted with large lines of products or manufacturing leather boots, gloves, etc.
3) We are a waterproofer too - most conditioners in the marketplace aren't!
How did Snowshoe Leather Care get its start?
Back in 1927, when our great grandpa Jack Dees retired from the railroad business, his son bought him something to keep him busy: a little company called Snowshoe. Three generations later, we’ve grown a little & learned a lot, but stayed true to what matters—leather care you can trust.
Did you change your packaging?
Yes! The last time we updated our packaging was more than 50 years ago & we were long overdue! We also updated our branding a bit - we are now closer to the original tiny tins Great Grandpa Jac
Is the product the same in the new packaging?
Yes! We haven't changed the product at all. In fact, we pride ourselves on using the same quality ingredients, recipe, & even the same equipment that created Snowshoe Leather Care's cult following!
We will be discontinuing the 8oz plastic tubs & are thrilled to be moving away from plastic all together.
What’s the difference between Snowshoe Leather Conditioner, the Balm line, and Glove Love?
At their core, all of our leather care products are built on the same nearly 100-year-old Snowshoe formula—designed to condition, protect, and extend the life of leather. The difference comes down to purpose, scent, and how you plan to use them.
Snowshoe Leather Conditioner - This is our original, do-it-all formula. It conditions and waterproofs leather while remaining breathable and non-greasy. It’s unscented and versatile enough for boots, shoes, bags, jackets, saddles, and furniture. If you’re looking for one product to handle most leather care needs, this is it.
The Balm Line (Boot Balm, Bag Balm, Belt Balm) - Our balms use the same trusted base as our Leather Conditioner, but are task-specific and lightly scented. We created them to make it easy to grab the right product for a specific item or use case—while adding a subtle, leather-friendly scent. Functionally, they perform very similarly to our Leather Conditioner.
Glove Love - Glove Love is for leather gloves. It uses the same conditioning and protective ingredients, but with a lighter application feel—ideal for maintaining softness, flexibility, and grip without buildup. It’s finished with a Frasier Fir scent, inspired by the Pacific Northwest, making it especially nice for gloves that are worn often and conditioned frequently.
Saddle Salve - Saddle Salve is for tack and equestrian leather that sees regular use and exposure to the elements. It conditions while helping protect against moisture, sweat, and dirt—without softening leather to the point of losing structure. It’s ideal for saddles, bridles, reins, and other working leather where durability and performance matter.
